Kentucky takes a five-game winning streak over Florida into its Tuesday matchup with the Gators at 7 p.m. on ESPN. John Calipari is 7-1 vs. Billy Donovan since coming to UK. His one loss was a 70-68 setback in Gainesville in 2011. That was the game in which Brandon Knight missed a last-second shot for the Cats.
The last meeting between the two teams happened in last year?s SEC Tournament. Florida actually led the semifinal game 56-49 with 10:42 to play. Kentucky went on a 16-0 run and held on for a 74-71 win. The Cats were then beaten by Vanderbilt in the tournament final.
Florida reached the finals of the West Regional before blowing a late lead and losing to Rick Pitino and Louisville. Of course, Kentucky beat that Louisville team in the Final Four, then knocked off Kansas in the national championship game.
